General: How do I download free trial software? Can I download full-version software? I downloaded a program, but it won't extract properly. Why does it say I have installed the program too many times?
Quick-Scan: Quick-Scan won't scan. Why not? Quick-Scan just starts my regular scanning program. Why?
Spell-Helper: The program won't start. I just get an error message I can't record words and hear them played back.
To-Do List: The program won't start. I just get an error message What is the icon in my system tray for? Why won't the program close when I hit the red X?
General Answers: How do I download free trial software? Browse our software categories until you find a program you would like to try. On the product's description page, click the red download link at the bottom of the page. You will probably see a dialog box appear. Click either 'Run' or 'Open', depending on which is available. Once you have downloaded a free trial program, you can register it by clicking the 'Register' menu option in the program. Usually, this is located near the 'Help' or 'About' menu. A new screen will appear. When you click the button to pay for the software, you be directed to a page on the Digital Dawn website where you can pay for the product through PayPal. After you pay using PayPal, you will receive a Registration ID, both on the screen, and via E-Mail. Go back to the registration screen in the software, and choose to verify your registration. Type the Registration ID in the box provided. When your registration has been verified, all limitations of the trail period will be lifted. Top
Can I download full-version software? To get full-version software, you must download a free-trial program, and then register it. This is to ensure your satisfaction with our products. Top
I downloaded a program, but it won't extract properly. When this problem is most common with Windows 95 or Windows 98, but can occur with any version of Windows. You are missing a critical dll (Dynamic Linked Library), named MSVBM60. This file contains components vital for many programs, including Digital Dawn programs. Why does it say I have installed the program too many times? Digital Dawn limits the number of times you can install our free-trial software. This limitation is part of the free-trial license, and is lifted after registration has been verified. If you receive this message during your first installation of a program, or feel you received this message in error, please contact technical support Top
MDAC stands for Microsoft Data Access Components. It is a set of system components that are used for many functions, including database retrieval and manipulation. MDAC version 2.5 or higher is required for some Digital Dawn programs. Normally, if a program requires MDAC, you will be alerted during the installation. MDAC is available for free from Microsoft. Quick-Scan Answers: Quick-Scan won't scan. Why not? Quick-Scan works with many scanners, but not all of them. It will work with most standard TWAIN scanners. It usually will not work with business card scanners. It also may have compatibility problems with multi-function machines that scan, print, copy and fax, also know as 'all-in-one' machines. Top
Quick-Scan just starts my regular scanning program. Why? When functioning properly, Quick-Scan makes use of your existing scanner drivers. You may see a 'flash screen' during the scanning process that has the name and\or logo of your scanner's manufacturer. If you see more than just a flash screen, or are prompted to use the proprietary scanning software that can with your scanner, Quick-Scan may not support your scanner. Top

I can't record words and hear them played back. To record and play back sounds, you will need several things. A microphone, speakers or headphones, and a sound card that supports audio recording and playback. Check that each of these items are functioning properly. What is the icon in my system tray for? When To-Do List starts, it puts an icon in your system tray. This is to save space on your desktop and in your task bar. This allows To-Do List to run all the time, with out getting in your way while you are working with other programs, and allows you easy access to To-Do List when a task needs to be updated. Just Double-Click the system tray icon to display your tasks, and close the window when your are done. Top
Why won't the program close when I hit the red X? To-Do List assumes that you will be using the program intermittently throughout the day. When you hit the red X, the window closes, but the program continues to run in the background. To view or update your tasks, just Double-Click the icon in the system tray. If you want to quit the program completely, use the 'Quit' menu option under the 'File' menu, or Right-Click the system tray icon, and select 'Quit'. The program will close, and the system tray icon will disappear. Top
